  • Gerard McLoughlin Hired as Vice President

WASHINGTON, Aug. 1, 2007—Bank of Georgetown, a community bank chartered in Washington, D.C., has hired Gerard M. McLoughlin as their new vice president of commercial banking.

“Gerard brings a unique set of credentials and skills to our executive team,” said Bank of Georgetown President and CEO Michael Fitzgerald. “He’s got rich experience working with the real estate, construction and various business communities in and around D.C., but also he’s a communications and customer service specialist from earlier training, which means he understands how to reach out and connect with people and quickly understand their needs.”

McLoughlin most recently was assistant vice president of construction and real estate within the commercial banking division of Mercantile Potomac Bank in Gaithersburg, Md. There he helped to serve the construction and development companies of the D.C. area by providing financing for real estate projects.

Prior to his tenure with Mercantile Potomac, McLoughlin served as a credit analyst with Mercantile Banking and Trust in Baltimore, Md. There he provided the citizens of Baltimore and the surrounding area with numerous banking services, such as credit analysis, loan underwriting and loan approval recommendations.

“I’m very proud to be in a role where I’m able to continue serving the Washington, D.C. business community,” said McLoughlin. “Bank of Georgetown has a stellar reputation of providing businesses with personalized, creative and competitive banking and lending options, and I’m very excited about leveraging this new opportunity in ways that help my customers achieve their goals.”

McLoughlin’s career has a strong base in customer service. While working as an assistant account executive with Equals Three Communications in Bethesda, Md., he provided media relations, partnership development, and research services directly to clients. In addition, he served as a communication services representative for the Edison Electric Institute. There he provided research assistance to members and helped to implement publicity and promotional strategies.

McLoughlin earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Marymount University, where he was a member of both the National Scholastic Honor Society and the National Honor Society in Business Administration. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Fordham University.
