WASHINGTON, June 12, 2007 – Bank of Georgetown, a community bank chartered in Washington D.C, has hired Jeffrey A. Banks to serve as Managing Director, Business Development.

Banks has more than 30 years of experience in federal and local banking, most recently serving as Vice President and Business Development Manager of Industrial Bank, NA (IBNA) of Washington, D.C., where he generated millions in loan applications and bank deposits and also contributed greatly to the success of the bank’s community outreach programs. He has spent the last 20 years of his career dedicated to supporting the diverse communities within the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.

His broad expertise includes federal and local bank regulations, policies and procedures and consumer and commercial loans, insurance products and other investments. A native of Ohio, Banks started his banking career in Cincinnati working for a variety of financial institutions including AVCO Financial, Hamilton County State Bank and Central Trust Bank before moving to Washington D.C in 1988.
Banks career has been filled with extensive work within the communities he serves. He has led classes in financial literacy and life skills for at-risk youth, coached non-profit religious organizations on financial opportunities for their communities, and provided financial education to a variety of small business industry groups.
Specifically, Banks helped 51 students graduate from an apprentice program sponsored by the National Capital Revitalization Commission Risk Youth in partnership with Goodwill Industries, MC Dean and The Miller & Long Firm that guaranteed employment for graduates. He also shared his financial knowledge with owners of 43 startup construction firms during a 10-week Contractor’s College held in the district. Bank’s knowledge and expertise helped to give these companies the opportunity to succeed in the construction industry.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management in addition to an Associate Degree in administrative management from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
